A Renter's Guide to Ejari

Ejari (Arabic for "my rent") is Dubai Land Department's mandatory online system for registering residential and commercial tenancy contracts. If you're renting in Dubai, your lease legally needs to be registered in it, not just signed on paper.

Why it's required

An Ejari certificate is what makes your tenancy contract legally recognized and enforceable — you'll need it to set up DEWA, apply for some visas or a trade license tied to your address, enroll children in school, or take a rent dispute to the Rental Dispute Settlement Centre.
